I love flowers. When I was six years old I would gather armloads of garden roses and peonies to present to my first grade teacher. Spring would find me anxiously waiting for the first blossoms to appear so that I could pluck them and bring their beauty indoors. I would arrange Lily of the Valley in a tiny vase and put it by my bed so that their heavenly scent would fill the night air.

I have the good fortune of having parents who are avid gardeners and on many occasions I raid their garden for my floral designs.

I believe that flowers help us along our journey here on earth. They heal our sorrows, celebrate our happiness and love, soothe us with their scent and have medicinal properties. Edible flowers can be used in many ways adding spice to our meals and colour to our plate. Flowers are an inspiration for artists and poets and their beauty can help us connect with our spirit.

I can’t think of anything else on earth that quite compares.
